Top stories of March

March was a big month for us, as we saw the largest monthly total since we started the blog. There were some breaking stories, so that has a lot to do with it.

MWH president responds to Sullivan allegations: MWH president Joseph Adams responded to John Sullivan's statements about his company with some statements of his own. This article is the third most-read in the history of the blog.

I know you read this article just to see how cute Hannah is. Admit it.
Cape Coral on the cutting edge of public employee-bashing: All of this vitriol being aimed at public employees around the country is nothing new in Cape Coral. We've been dealing with it for over a year.

Former Commission candidate linked to attack website: Jessica, our investigator extraordinaire, discovered that a former County Commission candidate and School Board member's email address appeared on a link from the vicious and hastily designed website attacking Get out and Vote...Take Back the Cape!.

Uncivil towards civic
Council nearly bans Civic from meeting place: Bill Deile attempted to ban the Civic Association from using the Yacht Club.

Council creates empty Utilities Department: The City Council created a new Utilities Department. So far, there is nothing in it.

In Defense of Free Speech

30 years in prison for a barn photo?: A Tampa senator has proposed a bill that it would make it a first-degree felony to take a picture of a farm.

The Scott Watch

The Scott vision
Rick Scott appointments could stall Everglades restoration progress: This one is a little old, but getting some reads. CEO Scott inherited the power to appoint four members of the South Florida Water Management District's governing board. That makes his goal of paving the Everglades a distinct possibility.

Preaching on Teaching

Athletic recruiting is widespread, part of a larger problem: I think back on my experience as an athletic director and lament how many high schools do not get caught recruiting athletes. It's a systemic problem that extends to parents as well as schools.

Why I'm Sick of Pundits

Reason #4: Glenn Beck gets crazier, even as conservatives complain: That man thinks up some strange stuff, and even some conservatives are asking him to lighten up. In the end, it will be his declining ratings that do him in.

Spotlight on Lee

The time to grow gills is now: I think I'm going to start up this blog again. I kind of miss it. This little ditty from last year gives you a "yikes" thought about what a Category 5 hurricane would do.

Sunshine Byways

Featured Stop: John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, State Road A1A, North Palm Beach: Sunshine Byways was my first blog, and my favorite one to write. I haven't been able to contribute to it in over a year, but I'm glad to see people are still reading it.
